Retrieval of a page from a CRM server failed due to an error

I've tried searching for a solution online but so far I haven't found anything matching my problem.

I'm using Outlook 2010.  I installed the Microsoft CRM 2011 using the online installer, with offline support.  Then I configure it for the CRM server (hosted solution, not on premise).  It finds the hosted site, says it synchronizes data (which appears to have worked), and everything goes well with the installation.

I open Outlook and it now has the new folder for the CRM with the correct name.  However, when I click on it, no matter what section I browse to within the CRM feature, everything single page says "Retrieval of a page from a CRM server failed due to an error."  Everything appears to work fine when I log in via the web interface through a web browser.

Other possibly useful info:

- Using a Windows 7 32 bit computer

- Have previously used a different MS CRM 2011 that was hosted, which worked fine.  So this problem may be related to this computer previously being configured with a different CRM server.  I completely uninstalled MS CRM and the DB after I stopped using the previous MS CRM 2011 hosted one.

So far I've tried all of the following:

- Uninstall CRM / Install CRM

- Uninstall CRM and SQL DB, Install CRM (which also reinstalls SQL DB)

- Repair CRM

- Install CRM 2011 Rollup 11 (KB2710577)

- Install CRM 2011 Rollup 13 (KB2795627)

- Reboot the computer after all of the above.

- Disable antivirus

- Uninstall CRM, remove MSCRM folders from both Local profile and Roaming profile.

Also noteworthy:

- I've confirmed our web filtering software is not blocking this traffic

- I've configured our firewall is not blocking this traffic

Sorry for long post but I wanted to make sure I included everything I've tried so far without success.  Any feedback is appreciated.  Thank you!

    Did you try this:

Go into Customizations and open the Contact Entity.

Under Views highlight the "Active Contacts" and then click on More Actions and set it to "Set Default".

    Then close Outlook and reopen.

    Second suggestion:

    In IE: Tools>Manage add-ons

In the Show drop-down menu, select All add-ons. Make sure the following are Enabled: Microsoft Dynamics CRM Outlook Client Shell Frame and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Outlook Client Local Page Frame.

I will also like you to refer to this link as well:

    social.microsoft.com/.../4649c2c7-31d9-4ef7-909e-4c312cbd8f73

Additionally if the user has an extra semi colon after the GUID then the entity that is impacted wont load. You should also check it as well.

    That did it!

I tried looking at this before (forgot to mention in my post) but the Add-On wasn't there.  This time when I checked it, the option was there and was disabled.  I enabled it, rebooted Outlook and it started working.

    Thank you!

    Adeel,

When i get on my Outlook client and client on my Organization Tab it gives me blank screen. I believe i am facing the same issue, but when i go to IE and click on Manage Add ons, it does not have Microsoft Dynamics CRM Outlook Client Shell Frame and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Outlook Client Locale Page Frame Add on in the list.

Could you please suggest me to how i can troubleshoot this error?

    Thanks,

    Durgesh

I got it guys! I got it!

I dont know where did I read this solution, I just repeat it, So if you know the real source tell me and I will link to it,

For solving the Problem of "Retrieval of a page from a CRM server failed due to an error" I had in Outlook 2019 with CRM 9 there was one tiny trick!

    1.Go to IE

    2. Add Your CRM site as a Local Site.

    3. Customize The Local Sites security settings,

    4. Look for "Display Mixed Content" and set it to true.

    Vola!!

All thanks goes to the original owner, I am just sharing with my friends.
