Link of activities and notes from leads and opportunities to associate account.

Greetings -

When a lead or opportunity is linked to an "associated account", will the activities and notes in those leads and/or opportunities appear in the account social pane?   What would be the setup to see that they do?

Is there a difference if the lead or opportunity is linked to the account via the customer or the associated account fields?   What is the difference?

Thanks.

Paul

    Paul,

OOB CRM doesn't copy over the activities and notes from leads or opportunities into account. You would need custom code like plugins to copy over activities and notes between entities. You would have to take care of the data copy when Lead/Opportunity is updated/qualified etc.,

There is no difference in how you associate account with opportunity unless you have created additional (other than parentaccountid) account lookups on opportunity in your implementation.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply.   It seems that this has was done in the past because many of our accounts contain activities from leads and/or opportunities, not created for the activity itself.  Would this be a change with the 2013 version?

What crm does is all the activities of child records of an account is rolled over to Account. For example if account related to multiple contacts, opportunities, orders, cases etc all these child record activities are rolled over to account.  You can see All these activities  under account activities nav. You can filter these activities to show only activities directly added account by clicking on " This record Only"

If you see in below image even though activity phone call is related to case still it shows up under account.

All the child record activities are rolled over to account .

No., this has been the way CRM worked in the earlier versions as well. Please check if there were any code (plugins / workflows /script) that are disabled now.

To be clear: these activities show up as part of the "rollup" views under the Account (or Contact), and in fact go several levels deep. But this view is only shown in the related entity navigation "Associated View" as shown in Chitra's screenshot.

They never show up in the social pane (aka Notes control), which uses only the direct relationships from Account to the Activities (as activity parties or regarding).

Please remind me of how to get to the related entity navigation associated view.

    Thanks.

You can navigate to Activities by clicking on the tile menu -> Activities .
