Item Inquiry "On Order" field showing negative quantity

We have an issue with some items showing a negative On Order quantity in the item inquiry screen.  I have looked at receiving and the item was not over received.  We have run reconcile and it has not corrected the quantity any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Hi Katie,

I know this isn't a good answer, but it's sometimes what we need to do. If you have run check links and run inventory reconcile (both the PSTL version and the regular version), and the numbers are still wrong, you may need to edit the SQL tables directly. If you are using multi-bin, be sure to edit the multi-bin table too.

Things happen. Does this come up a lot?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

We have run the below based on previous posts I had read.  This is happening to items daily.  I am not familiar with SQL tables so not sure what/how to do anything with those.  Is there something that we could be doing wrong to cause this to happen?

Step 1: Reconcile Sales Order Processing

On the Microsoft Dynamics GP menu, click Tools, click Utilities, click Sales, and then click Reconcile - Remove Sales Documents.

Step 2: Reconcile Purchase Order Processing

On the Microsoft Dynamics GP menu, click Tools, click Utilities, click Purchasing, and then click Reconcile Purchasing documents.

    Step 3: Reconcile Inventory

On the Microsoft Dynamics GP menu, click Tools, click Utilities, click Inventory, and then click Reconcile.
