I have received an inquiry about what Smartlist items have been used frequently in the Finance team. I could not find any report or script to extract it. Can you help?

I think the below Smartlist are frequently used by a finance team.

    1. Account Transactions (Dynamcis GP-->Smartlist-->Financial-->Account Transactions)

    2. Bank Transactions (Dynamcis GP-->Smartlist-->Financial-->Bank Transactions)

Note: Some other Smartlist reports also used for their business financial inquiry/auditing.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Mobin,

I don't believe GP tracks this kind of information. So without setting up something custom for this, you'd need to ask the users to let you know what SmartLists they are using.

I believe this is primarily related to the role of the finance team in the business as the primary control layer. I have seen several businesses have their finance team control not only the financial perspective of the daily transactions, but also the supply chain activities as well such as; Inventory, Purchasing and Sales.

In this essence, as derived from the basic financial functions, the following is to be considered as the primary source:

    • Accounts Payable Function | Payable Transactions Smart List (Microsoft Dynamics GP > Smart List > Purchasing  > Payable Transactions)
    • Accounts Receivable Function | Receivable  Transactions Smart List (Microsoft Dynamics GP > Smart List > Sales > Receivable Transactions)
    • Treasury Function | Bank Transactions (Microsoft Dynamics GP > Smart List > Financial > Bank Transactions)
    • Costing Function |  Inventory Purchase Receipt (Microsoft Dynamics GP > Smart List > Inventory > Inventory Purchase Receipts)
    • Payroll Function   |  Payroll Transactions (Microsoft Dynamics GP > Smart List > Payroll > Payroll Transactions)
Still, the Account Transactions (General Ledger Journal Entries) is a primary smart lists for all the functions, as it provides an overall view for all the journal entries recorded on the General Ledger.
Furthermore, the above doesn't indicate in any way that they are the only smart lists to be grated for your Finance Team.  In Dynamics GP, there are predefined set of standard smart lists considered in categories (folders) as derived from the overall business functions which are (Financial, Inventory, Payroll, Purchasing, Sales ... etc).
If you share your requirements beyond this question, we might be able to provide further assistance.
    Your feedback is highly appreciated,

    Hi Mobin,

in Smartlists, All the reports come under Financial folder are most preferably used by Finance People.  Apart from this Tax Detail calculation from Company folder, Transaction details in Analytical Accounting may be used.

Victoria is correct - this kind of metric is not recorded in GP.  You'll have to rely on anecdotal info from users.

I believe the question has been understood in various ways, either the commonly and frequently used smartlists by the Finance department in general, or the smartlists that are used frequently in your Dynamics GP environment as some sort of statistical analysis.

I am quite curious to hear back from you Mobin,

Thanks all. I've informed my client that it is not available based on Victoria's answer while I gave them some direction based on Soma, Mahmoud and Nataraj answers. Thanks again.

    Hi Mahmoud,

Yes, the second guess is correct. Finance team is looking for the smartlists that are used frequently in your Dynamics GP environment as some sort of statistical analysis.

    Cheers,

    Mobin
