Project Activated Email - would like to turn it off

Aloha, Last fall we upgraded to SL 7.0 FP1 and one of the new undocumented features is that an email goes out to the Project Manager of the Project whenever the Project status is changed to Active (pjproj.status_pa).  For a number of reasons, we would not like this email to go out; but I have been unsuccessful tracking down how to turn it off.   Places I have looked:Project Setup, Project Maintenance (GUI and VBA), Communicator Alerts, and even a cursory review of the PJProj Stored Procs.  I do know that the email is processed through the Communicator module, but that is all I know.  I am assuming it is inserted into the PJCommun table via VB somewhere.  My last effort will be to circumvent the insert by creating a delete trigger on the PJCommun table. However, before I go that route, I was curious if anyone else has this “issue” and/or whether someone knows how to turn off this email notification. Mahalo, -Scott JohnsonIT Applications SpecialistW. Dear Scott,

     Scope:

When you save a project as Plan or Active, it sends a message to the Project Manager letting them know they have a new project assigned to them. How to turn this off.

    Assessment

This is a new feature in 7.0 and there is no option to turn it off or redirect it to another person (like Business Manager or Other as in Budget approval or invoice approval or document level time approval)

    Plan

    Enhancement : 1686

Enhancement for Project manager notification when a Project is created to be more flexible like most of the other communicator destination options

This is likely built into the screen code and is triggered when the project is set to active or plan.

    Best Regards,

    Jana MacDonald

    Scott,

There is a way to search for the cause of the message.  PJCommun has a 'Source Function' field which should tell you what is generating the alert.  You may also review 'LUpdProg' to see the last program to update the particular PJCommun record.  Perhaps there is something happening in Project Maintenance that writes this?

    Aloha back at you,

    Marsha
