HOW TO HANDLE THE SETUP FOR TWO COMPANIES IN DIFFERENT STATES

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We are going to migrate from a legacy system AS400 to GP 10, can somebody can give me and advice about how to setup those companies since Miami will be the headquarter. Should I use intercompany transactions for AP and AR how it can be done?

Thank you

I am with Beat. I strongly advise against moving to such an old version of GP. I would start at 2015R2 and take advantage of all of the enhancements. 2015R2 has been out there for a couple of years and I think it is stable.

As far as the intercompany question is concerned, if the native intercompany module isn't robust enough to meet your needs, I highly recommend the advanced intercompany module from www.goerpcloud.com/.../advanced-intercompany-transactions-fact-sheet

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Yes, I totally agree with you, and I will bring you advice over the table, also I am planning to use IM  but I still checking around. I will use Intercompany transaction for this project. Thanks a million. :)

    Thanks Pat for clarification,

I understand what your goal is, but IMHO it would be wiser to upgrade your GP first, because then you would also get the most recent tools to do the data transition from your legacy AS400 system... every time you upgrade a major GP version, you get the benefits of the Integration Manager with GP for a 6-months period for free.. (unless you're out of support with Microsoft).

You may not want to go to the latest GP release, but I'd at least go the last supported mainstream version, which is GP2013R2. It will also be easier to get support if you run into troubles with a (almost) current version of GP.

    Hi Beat,

The company based in NJ has AS400 legacy system, Miami GP 10; I think they want to go into the transition first and see how good the NJ people react to the changes, so I am trying to figure the best way to approach it.

    Thank you!

    Hi Pat,

May I ask you why you want to migrate to GP10.0 only ? ... GP 10.0 is out of support for quite some time now and even 2010 has ended last year..

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle?p1=12629

Here is an updated list for Dynamics GP of the mainstream and extend support life-cycle :

For the question related to Intercompany, it all depends on your business processes and rules.. There is no straight answer here, unless you elaborate a little about your question and what you want to achieve.

    Hope this helps
