invoice date vs. posting date

Does the invoice date affect the posting date? Example (I created a batch with a posting date of Feb but some of the docs had Jan invoice date and items posted in Jan). If you are posting a batch in a certain month, what would cause it to post in a different month?

     Hi Cheryl,

    The posting date can come from either the batch or the transaction depending on your setup. If you look in Setup -> Posting -> Posting (window). This window will allow you to select a module/transaction type and set where the system takes the posting date from, the batch or the transaction.

    From your example above I suspect that GP is taking the date from the transaction as the posting date and not the batch date.

    If you need to want to use the batch posting date you can setup GP to do that in the posting setup window as described above.
