Drop Ship Return to Vendor

Please advise on this:
Customer Returns Items and ships directly to Vendor.
User need to enter Sales Return in GP to record the Items and Credit Amounts, but since the Items are shipped directly to Vendor, it is not necessary to increase Item Quantities or Inventory Value in GP. Is there any function in GP for Drop Ship Return to Vendor? what is the best way to handle this?

    Hi MaxB,

    Assuming you have converted the order to an invoice, you would issue a return against the invoice (this will create a transaction to drop ship clearing). When you receive confirmation from the vendor the item is received and credit / return payment issued, you would issue either a credit memo to drop ship clearing, or you could issue a return against the receipted PM transaction.

    This way, both sides clear out in the drop ship clearing account, and the only affected accounts are liabilities/cash and revenue.

    Make sure to double-check the return item cost because standard cost is typically based on the last cost used for a drop ship item. This would be found in the item's unit cost amount in detail. If not, you may have a reconciliation issue at month-end.
