Hi,
I would like to find out, after inserting Lead Time Calculations, and Variants.. what do I do next?
What does Lead Time Calculations do? Is it only for selection?
If my Lead Time Calculations is 1W, then what next? how will this information be useful for my users to understand?
Suppose I say the Lead Time Calculation is 1W, is it 1W from the purchase of that item or 1W from the posting date that I post this item in Navision?
Thank you!
It is useful for understanding when you can expect to have stock. If you think about a simple purchase scenario and you know it’s typically 1 week to get the stock. This would mean a purchaser doesn’t need to apply an expected receipt date to the order/line. This then helps Sales know when stock is coming in and they could reserve the incoming stock. Lead time is just a typical indicator of the length of time it takes.
If you get a specific item from multiple vendors you might make your choice on who to buy from based on the lead time due to a prospective sale. Of course shorter lead times might be at a higher cost to the business.
Variants are only needed depending on the item and how you buy/sell/stock that item. Colours, sizes, multiples, material are just a few things you might use. In the case of lead time and variants. A certain size of an item might take longer to make.
