Status Reason on additional Form

I am adding an additional for to the Case entity.  I am not sure how to use the Status Reason (statuscode) field.  I would like to use that field in multiple forms, but each from will have different Status Reason options.  Is it possible to have the Status Reason (statuscode) field available on more that one form, yet have different options listed in the dropdown list based on the form you are populating?

Yes its possible but you have to use javascript to remove options based on the form type.

here is sample code that shows how to remove option from the optionset

Xrm.Page.getControl("optionsetfieldname").removeOption(number) //You have to pass integer value of the option

I know with optionSet you can hide and remove options with Javascript code but I don't think you can do the same with Status reason.

The status reason is linked with status of the  entity

    CRM 2015 has status transitions

    www.preact.co.uk/.../how-to-set-dynamics-crm-status-reason-transitions

But this only controls what status you can go to.

I don't think you can modify the status reason field in the manner you want and would advise you to use an optionSet field.

You could add all the status reasons in the status reason field and then only show a subset of these in an optionset form, which could then be used to set the status reason.

Removing option on status reason field will work without any issue.

Ben Hosking, it seem like you have the best answer on this.  I would nee to create a new Status Reason for each new Case form I create.  To give you a dichotomy of the type of forms I want to create would be, a form for sending out Samples to Customers, to create internal company IT Support Tickets, to plant Maintenance tickets.  Each form would need a new set of drop down status options.  Based on what you are saying, Ben Hosking, is you would recommend is (without using java script) to create a new field with an option set for the status of the form.  That being said, what is the difference between the statecode field verses statuscode field?
