Hi Srs, I´m preparing myself for to use the CRm 3.0 in a company here in Brazil, for this reason I´m have a single question. I need to configure a free CRM in my computer, I have a personal computer, and I would like to know where a can to download the free CRM for use and train, I try to do add a new reference in my aplication, like http:///mscrmservices/2006/crmservice.asmx But, I can´t it. it was show a follow message: The server committed a protocol violation. Section=ResponseStatusLine I believe that this is because I haven´t a SDK installed in my computer. Help me somebody for I can begin my tests with Dynamics CRM? Thank you very much

    Re: Installing CRM 3.0

    Hi Fabiano,

Dynamics CRM is an application which is installed on a server. You can use either Outlook or IE to connect to the server and use the data in that system. With that in mind, you do need a server to install CRM on. The server must contain IIS and either on the same server or somewhere else in the network you do need a domain controller and a sql server machine.

I can imagine that this is a lot for your machine, so what you can do is download a single virtual machine which does contain all this. Microsoft has created this machine for you and offers  a download from this location:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=dd939ed9-87a5-4c13-b212-a922cc02b469

After you have downloaded and run that virtual machine, then you can start programming against it by using the information from the SDK. Download that here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=82e632a7-faf9-41e0-8ec1-a2662aae9dfb

    Re: Installing CRM 3.0

    Hi Fabiano,

If you want to experiment with the CRM SDK, I suggest you

    1. Download  Microsoft VPC from here
    2. download Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 VPC (Virtual PC) from here
    3. Create a new virtual machine (follow the VPC instructions)

This VPC has the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 already installed, along with Visual Studio 2005 development environment. You can use it as a sand box and experiment without harming your PC or any real environement.

By the way, the URL you stated (http:///mscrmservices/2006/crmservice.asmx) is missing the server name. It should look something like http://servername[:port]/mscrmservices/2006/crmservice.asmx (omit the port if you are working on port 80).

    Good luck,

    Yaniv

    Re: Installing CRM 3.0

    Hi Fabiano,

Since you're just getting started, I would like to recommend you to start with CRM 4.0. This is the current version which contains many new features compared to CRM 3.0.

You can download a virtual pc instance which contains CRM. This you can download here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=dd939ed9-87a5-4c13-b212-a922cc02b469&displaylang=en

This vpc contains a windows server 2003 installation with SQL server, CRM, Sharepoint, Visual Studio and more related products. Because CRM is a server product, you must install it on a windows server machine and you cannot install this on your local machine (unless your os is windows server 2003). The SDK is nothing else than a combined set of documents. These will help you understand how to program agains crm. You can find that here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=82E632A7-FAF9-41E0-8EC1-A2662AAE9DFB&displaylang=en

Hope this helps you to get started,
