Contact quick create form

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I'm working on a CRM system that had been migrated to CRM 2013 & on a custom entity form I'm having a contact lookup field to connect a contact to that form. The problem I'm having is, when I try to search for a contact(by typing the full name) that is not available in the system & if I use the Quick contact create form to create a new contact, it auto populates the full name I typed for the search as the "Last Name" on the contact quick create form. Is there any way that I can auto populate the first name & last name from the full name I typed for the search instead of auto populating the full name as the last name? Hope this makes sense.

I tried to add the full name field to the quick form  so that I can remove the first & last name fields but it is not available as an unused field in the list. I'm not sure why it does not show that field.

Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

    Hi Bruno,

    As mention above mail "Seems like CRM is passing the value that you enter on the lookup field straight into the last name as a default built-in behavior", if we need same behavior for custom entity like set Name from lookup into quick create how is it possible.

    thanks in advance.

    The problem there is that the lookup field has 1 text area. the system picks up what is on that text area and stick inside the last name. I guess it is like that because some places people my search "last name first name".

    Thanks for the reply Bruno. I wasn't sure why I could not add the full name field to the quick form. I just wanted to know if there's any easy way of fixing it other than adding a javascript.

    You  will need to  customize the quick create form

    Components->Entities->Contact->Contact Quick Create Form

    Seems like CRM is passing the value that you enter on the lookup field straight into the last name as a default built-in behavior.

    you can try to add a custom javascript on the onload event of the quick create form

    The problem here is that the lookup is 1 text field. you would need 2 fields to make sure someone will enter this order "First Name + Last name"
