There is  a lot documentation available to customize GP 2015 Web Client which is silver light based. But can't find any documentation to customize GP 2016 Web client customization which is HTML 5 based.

Appreciate any help if you can share any documentation around same.

Thanks,

Himal

    Hi Himal

I know it is not the answer you are looking for, but just use Dexterity.

Dexterity customisations work both on the Desktop client and web client (both Silverlight and HTML5).

FYI: I am running Dexterity training in the week before GPUG Summit 2016 in Tampa.

    Hi David,

That's right, but we have the customization in Dex windows like we've added new menu items in dex window like customer, Vendor and registered few triggers on fields on that window.

That customization in Dex isn't compatible with Silver light client and HTML5 client. VSTool is the only option that i know of.

Do you have any ref link that gives the clue to use dex for such integration with web client ?

    Thanks,

    Himal

    Hi Himal

I don't understand. Anything written in Dexterity works in the web client (with a few exceptions).

    Hi David,

Say, there is a customization in Dex which add an Additional Menu on Vendor Form. and on the click of it, it would open "google.com".

And When the menu clicked, will it open the site on client side or it would run on server side ? Before we were using COM and i guess COM run on the server side. So I don't think we can use it. Does it mean that any functionality that we have in COM, we need to bring it in Dex ?

    Also,

I created a simple new dictionary which does what i mentioned above. and it is getting stuck during initial load with "Synchronizing xxx.dic".

    Thanks,

    Himal

I tested the sample dictionary which has a start up message and a menu on Vendor Windows.

I'm getting the message on start up but menu isnt appearing in GP Web Client. It shows Additional Menu, but doesn't show my menu item.

    Works fine in Windows.

Is there anything i need to handle in code ?

    Thanks,

    Himal

    What language are you using?

If using Visual Studio, have you enabled your code for Web Client.

I'm using Dex. Menu isn't appearing for whatever reason in Web. but the events attached on Save in Dexterity is working fine in Web. So my dictionary is getting called properly.

Also, seems like not all dex is compatible with Web Client. for example, Shell_DisplayNotification doesn't seem to be compatible with Web Client.  Is there any list which mention what is supported vs what is not in web client while using Dex ?

    Thanks,

    Himal
