Hi, i wanna install Dynamics CRM 2013 on Network Load Balancing (NLB) for the first time. My scenario is, there is 5 servers FARM topology. And we want to install 2 front end server. On the internet, i found this article
After reading the article, i have one short question. Do i need to have at least 1 server that runs full server role ?

I have the same question (0)Hi,
it depends on what you want to load-balance.
Here is another article:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh699803(v=crm.7).aspx
And here is a quote from there:
"This topic describes the steps to install Microsoft Dynamics CRM in a two-node network load balancing (NLB) configuration where all Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server roles are installed on a single computer, using the NLB feature in Windows Server. This kind of deployment is called a Full Server installation. You can use similar steps to install a particular server group role, such as the Front End Server role, or one or more individual server roles"
In other words, I think you can put it this way: you can use load-balancing to load-balance a "role". It can be a full-server role, it can be a front-end role, etc. To answer your question - no, you don't have to have such a server, unless you are load-balancing a full-server role.
