Bug in getEventArgs().preventDefault(); command

Hi,

getEventArgs().preventDefault(); command is not working after searching for long time I find there is bug in this command. Is there any alternate command or option for this. I am using a lot of event.returnValue=false; in my CRM 2011 to check condition and cancel the event at fields change events. I want to upgrade to CRM 2013 to CRM 2015. One option is store and set the previous value if the condition is not true and focus on the same field. Please let me know is there any alternate option for this, what about this command in CRM 2015
