What's the point of the user entering a value in the Sales Forecast window?  The values could be meaningless.  To me, the idea of a "sales forecast" is for the program to use history, which is available in this window, to make the forecast.  Not some enduser.  I don't get it...

    RE: Sales Forecast

The point is that it provides the MRP your best guess at demand for your finished goods beyond existing orders in the system.  Of course you could put meaningless numbers in the forecast - you will get meaningless MMOs (Planned Manufacturing Orders) and meaningless PO suggestions.  There are many third-party add-ins to assist in creating a Sales Forecast based on historical data.  These products look for trends and can assist in creating more accurate forecasts.  The built in Sales Forecasting functionality is just a vehicle to feed GP more demand information.  The quality of that information is left up to you.
