Backup CRM user tables to restore to a separate environment

Hi all,

I have two environments, live and test. I want to take a database backup of the live environment, but only the tables/data that refers to users. I then want to restore this backup to my test environment, so the users on test and live are identical.

Would anyone know how to do this?

I'm running CRM 2011 on-prem, roll-up 11. I use SQL server management studio 2012.

Thank you,

Rich

    Hi,

I wouldn't do a partial backup/restore of the db for a couple of reasons, one is that it isn't supported and another that you will make a lot of weird things to the existing users. If you want to match things I would use something like the SSRS toolkit from Kingsway.

    Regards

What I would do is restore the whole database and then delete all data in it using bulk deletes.

if you tried to do partial tables copied you could end up with a corrupt database.

    Hello richpearson1,

I'd highly recommend you don't take the route of partial import. You'd creat much more problems than you'd save time with the operation. This would result in some serious database inconsistencies and most probably render your data useless or near so.

Not to mention it's not supported :)

I'd do a normal backup of the DB and simply import it in test.
