I agree with RthSW here. Be prepared that it will not be an easy task and it requires planning and testing. I also agree that using codeunits  or/and xml ports will be a better option for you that the excel templates.

Team up with a competent partner and you will have a good transformation from one great platform to another.

    hi

Migrating from one system to another can be a complex process, but there are ways to make it smoother. Here are some tips for migrating data from AS400 ACG to Dynamics 365 Business Central:

Plan your migration carefully: Before you begin the migration process, you need to have a solid plan in place. Determine what data needs to be migrated, how it will be migrated, and who will be responsible for each step of the process.

Clean up your data: Data quality is crucial for any successful migration. Take the time to clean up your data before the migration process begins. This includes removing duplicates, correcting errors, and ensuring that all data is accurate and complete.

Use a migration tool: There are many migration tools available that can help automate the migration process and reduce the risk of errors. Look for a tool that is specifically designed for migrating data from AS400 ACG to Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Test your migration: It's important to test your migration process thoroughly before going live. This will help you identify any issues or errors that need to be addressed before the data is migrated to the new system.

Get help from experts: If you don't have experience with data migration, consider working with a consultant or vendor who specializes in this area. They can provide guidance and support throughout the migration process and help ensure that everything goes smoothly.

Overall, migrating from AS400 ACG to Dynamics 365 Business Central can be a challenging process, but with careful planning and the right tools and support, it can be done successfully.

Maybe a little bit late, but i think you will not decide to change from your AS/400 to something else in just 2 weeks...
If you really thinking about transforming your Data via Excel and the configuration Wizard of Business Central... forget it. You don't get it to work with this.
I already replaced 2 AS/400 and one Siemens Nixdorf with Comet.
Your source Data will have a lot of surprises :-)
You can find some of my experiences here:
    https://derordersatz.de/en/midrange-quattro-as400-system36-abloesen/
    (or in German: https://derordersatz.de/midrange-quattro-as400-system36-abloesen/

And... The migration of your history is not the only task to solve. Your employees are trained by a lot of habits out of 30? 40? Years of using your AS/400 System.

To make it short: You need a good planning, you need to import your AS400 Data by XMLPort or better by Codeunits with a lot of enrichment and correction of your data.
If you like to share some of my experiences: You can contact me here or over my Website.
But you already made one thing right: Choosing Business Central as the natural, data-driven follow Up of your AS400. Enjoy!

    Hi D.F,

The first solution is to export your data in Excel Files, then transform your data to templates of Business Central and use Rapid standard to import your data.

The second solution, is the Power automate, You can export your data from AS 400 and share them in SharePoint or in a another server like SFTP and then automate the import of your data in Business Central.

    Hope that's helpful for you.
