Having a tough time with DocAttach paper clip not showing up. Recently an user has his PC re-imaged. I check the dex.ini file and it has the trailing '\' at the end of olenotes. I check the docattach setup window. The 'account' is working on the server with docattach opening properly. On his workstation, its not. The two users that had the PC re-imaged are having issues.
GP2015. Any ideas ? I search around and didn't find much besides the trailing '\"

That is very strange. I just tried it on a client's computer and the directory map and trailing slash worked. If I changed anything, like removing the trailing / or one of the folders, no paperclip. As soon as I added it back, the URL worked. Of course, a mapped drive will always work, but be sure to put that mapping in the user's login script to be sure it stays mapped.
I know the client's user's have unrestricted access to the shared folder, if I removed any access, it didn't work. Also, be sure the exact URL you put in the .ini switch will allow you to navigate to the top shared folder. In my example it was the DynamicsShared folder.
I hope you'll post back after more machines are upgraded.

Unfortunately any UNC path even with all directories created and permission correctly, including changing to everyone and full access did not work. Switching to mapped drive work immediately even without exiting GP.. Really weird...
The original unc path already had the trailing '\" and it still did not want to work for the 2 users. Could be an windows issue as well or combination.. I'll know more as more pc gets re-imaged/upgraded

You actually do not need to use a mapped drive so long as the directory structure exists in your URL location. I'll give you what my folder setup looks like that's used for a company database named TWO16:
\\INSPIRON \DynamicsShared\Notes\TWO16\OLENotes
My server name is INSPIRON my share is named DynamicsShared, it includes the folders Notes\TWO16\OLENotes
The entry in my Dex.ini file is:
OLEPath=\\inspiron\DynamicsShared\Notes\
You do need the trailing '\' at the end of the .ini file entry. The paperclip shows up in your Notes window and everywhere else you'd expect it to be, like the Record Notes windows and the Employee Maintenance window.

Figured it out, UNC does not work ie OLEnotes=\\Server\xx\xxx. Had to use mapped drive or just c:\ gpinstall folder.
