Our client bought 2 servers on data centre, one for application database and another one is for database server. The database server is restricted to only open the port 51001. In my application server, I installed SQL Server client just to make sure connection from application server to database server is restricted to port 51001.
I tested to connect to database server via sql client and database maintenance in application server and it worked properly. Different result when I tried to connect to solomon application (find database), it always show me an error indicate that the server could not found. I used the same syntax to connect (IP\instance name, port). I also created the alias but the result is still the same.
Finally I've tested in my environment (using 2 VPC) without any restrictions in the servers (my SQL server is still using non standard port) and the result is my Solomon application is able to connect to my database server well.
Actually I don't have any access to open or close the port in server, so it's really limited to test. What I want to know just what others port that should opened in database server ? I would like to inform the data centre to open others port if any.
