Ax 3.0 and office 365

We have an old Ax installation, but need to integretae it with Office 365 ( Office 2013 og 2016). But we get a problem with this DLL: smmaxol.dll and this is the info I get. Any way to get around this ?

Hi Jostein,

AX3.0 is not supported anymore by Microsoft. Support for newer Office versions will not be created for AX3.0 anymore.

When you get this error, I assume you tried to customize AX3.0 to realize an integration? If so, we don't know what you did, so we are not able to help if you don't provide some more information what you did before you got this error.

We haven't done any customization, we are just trying to get Ax 3.0 to run on a computer with office product newer than Office 2010. Any suggestions ?

Some methods to call Office2013 are different compared to older versions. If the method is not compatible you can get this type of error. You could create new classes in AX 3.0 and try to implement the office 2013 or 2016 methods in a correct way. You need to have development skills to do so.

As André said: You need to customize your solution to make this work, but there are no guaranties that this will work in the future.

The best and most cost efficient solution to this issue is to upgrade your AX or simply stay on older versions on all your software interacting with AX (OS, database and integrated software).
