How to set the budget filter in daily GJ in lines level
You're absolutely correct — in the Daily Journal filter configuration under Budget Control, the default query often includes the LedgerJournalTable, which is the header of the general journal. However, budget control needs to operate at the line level, specifically on LedgerJournalTrans (the journal lines).
Solution: How to Apply Budget Filters at Line Level for Daily Journals
To ensure the filter applies correctly at the line level, follow these steps:

    1. Open Budget Control Configuration
    • Go to Budgeting > Budget Control > Budget control configuration
    2. Go to the "Documents and Journals" Tab
    • Locate the "Daily journals" line in the list of documents/journals.
    • Confirm:
      • Include in budget control
      • Check at line entry
      • Filtered = Yes
    3. Click “Add/edit filtering”
    • Select Daily journals and click “Add/edit filtering”

    4. Switch Query to Use LedgerJournalTrans (Lines Table)
    • The filter by default references LedgerJournalTable, which is the header table.
    • Click “Select” (or Advanced filtering) in the query dialog.
    • In the Query dialog, do the following:
Join the LedgerJournalTrans table (if not present):
    • Click "Add Table" and add LedgerJournalTrans
    • Create a Join:
      • LedgerJournalTable.JournalBatchNumber = LedgerJournalTrans.JournalBatchNumber
Define Your Filter Criteria on the Line Table:
    • Now in the LedgerJournalTrans node of the query, apply your condition.
      • Example:
        • Field = MainAccount
        • Operator = Is greater than or equal to
        • Value = 600000
          (For expense accounts)
    OR
    • Filter by other fields such as:
      • Dimension, Project, Department, LedgerDimension

    5. Save and Exit
    • Click OK to save the query
    • Back in the Budget Control Configuration, click Save

    🔍 Key Notes:
    • Budget checks happen at the line level, so all filters must be applied to fields in LedgerJournalTrans.
    • If filters remain on LedgerJournalTable, they will not restrict individual lines, which can cause budget control to behave incorrectly.

    Thank Saif.

In the daily journal query, it contains 'Ledger journal table' which is GJ header instead of GJ line.
    Please advise

How to set the budget filter in daily GJ in lines level
    Hi,

To set filter criteria at the line level, go to Budgeting > Setup > Budget control > Source documents and accounting journals. Select Daily journals, and click Add/edit filtering.

Be sure "Check at line entry" is enabled so filtering occurs at the line level, not just the header level. Always test in UAT/Dev instance with sample entries to confirm the resolution or any different behavior.

    Thanks.

How to set the budget filter in daily GJ in lines level
To set a budget control filter at the line level for Daily General Journals (GJ) in Dynamics 365 Finance, follow these steps to match the configuration seen in the attached image (where filtering is enabled at line level for Daily journals):

Steps to Enable Budget Filter at Line Level for Daily Journals:
    1. Navigate to Budget Control Configuration:
      • Go to: Budgeting > Budget Control > Budget control configuration
    2. Go to the “Documents and Journals” Tab:
      • Scroll to the “Select the source documents and accounting journals for budget control” section.
    3. Locate "Daily journals" in the list:
      • Ensure the row for Daily journals has:
        • Include in budget control = checked
        • Check at line entry = checked
        • Filtered = Yes
    4. Click “View Filtering” or “Add/edit filtering”:
      • With Daily journals selected, click “Add/edit filtering” (if not already filtered).
      • A filtering dialog will appear where you can specify the criteria at the line level.
    5. Define Filtering Conditions:
      • Example: You may want to filter by main account range, financial dimensions, ledger accounts, or project-related lines.
      • Configure conditions like:
        • Field = Main account
        • Operator = equals or begins with, etc.
        • Value = 6*** (as an example for expense accounts)
    6. Save and Close:
      • After setting the filter criteria, click OK to save.
      • Then click Save on the Budget Control Configuration page.
    7. Validate Budget Control is Active:
      • Make sure budget control is enabled and assigned to the relevant legal entity and financial dimensions.

    🔍 Key Notes:
    • Filtering ensures that only specific lines (based on your filter criteria) will trigger budget control.
    • This is especially useful to limit budget checks to expense-related transactions or specific departments/projects.

Let me know if you need help setting a specific filter condition or linking it to dimension combinations.
