Hi one way to minimise typing when entering new items that use the same settings like price calculation, bar code selection, Tax and any other is making Dummy New Items and copy them substituting Desriptionn LookUp Code and cost. For this you need to say create "New Item 1" lookup code 001 (this will get the items on begining of list when sorted with code), you need to put cost say $1.00 and Profit Margin, anything else that may used again and again.

    How is that?

When you buy new items you have to create these items. Full stop. While creating them you can assign Profit margin which is not cost + % see help Profit Margin. On the other hand Mark Up from cost is. You can create the items as you buy or as you order if you order through RMS and enter the cost first and Profit Margin second to get automated price. Profit Margin of 26.665% = MarkUp from cost 50%. Otherwise Inventory Wizard Task 110 Change Prices markUp from cost can be used. You have to choose your items.

If you find out how to set defaults on New Item Please let us know.

You can lock the Profit Margin field in Items to be visible changeable or hidden. I believe is not the answer because it will not allow you to change it or see it if not set to changeable. To set this On Manager go File Security and find ControlName txtProfitMargin and set Behavior to Changeable or viewable .

    Good Luck

Lets ignore VAT or taxes for a sec is there a way to lock an Set Profit Margin in the system so even if i buy new items i dont have to see my price cause they will be marked up 50% of the cost

    Understand

Cost + ProfitMargin = Item Price that will be sold

RE: Fixed Pricing or MarkUp for VAT

    What exactly want to do?

Lock? Profit Margin at 50%, like item cost $1.00 PMargin 50% = sell $2.20, or Mark Up 50%, like item cost $1.00 Markup 50% = $1.50?

VAT what are the rules in your country? is it on cost or on selling price? If your purchases include VAT in price then it is already there. If not you have to add it to your cost.

You want this ability to control do you mean change VAT for the same item or different customers say Tourists may not pay VAT. If you change VAT tick in invoice thinks get messy you also have to change price. If you want to have some items with VAT (always until you change this in ITEM for subsequent sales) do that when creating Item. If you want to charge VAT to one group of customers and not others you should be looking at how you group your customers.

    I hope this helps
