Quick create form - field with initial focus

Posted on by

Is there any way to control which field on a quick create form has initial focus?  For example, the first three fields on one of the my quick create forms (Contact form, in this instance) are, in this order: First Name, Last Name, Role.

I would like for the First Name field to have focus when the quick create form opens, but the second field, Last Name, is the field that actually has it.  What can I do to go about changing this?

I have attached a screen shot to show what I'm talking about.

One simple approach is to make first name a mandatory field. As the form will (by default) position on the first mandatory field.

I am also facing this issue on 2016 On-Premise. For Main form setFocus() is working fine, but for QuickCreate it is not working.

Please let me know, if you get any solution for this.

Xrm.Page.getControl(arg).setFocus() fails with the Quick Create form.  There is no error message produced.

It works correctly on a regular (non-quick create) form, however.

you can use this function Xrm.Page.getControl(arg).setFocus() in JS and tie it to the onload on the quick create form.
