Entry Date & Who did it!

I am trying to look at GL entries through Inquiry -> Financial -> Detail.  I would like to see the date the entry was made and who did it.  How can I see that?  I am really new to this!

Thanks!!

The first column in the results pane (also called the Scrolling Window) is Date.  This is the transaction date.  You can't see who posted the transaction.  GP does not store this unless you have Audit Trails installed and activated (it's an optional module).  Most companies don't activate Audit Trails because of the vast amount of data that is captured & stored, which can slow the system down.

    Frank,

Can't the user entered by accessed in the SQL table itself?  I am not at the office but I am pretty sure it can.

    Thoughts?

I went into smartlist - I can add "user who posted" to the columns.  "Created date" is giving me 2007 dates!  Is that the field I want?  I would like to see this in the JE entry, but I will use smartlist if I have to.

     Thanks, Sue

    Hi Sue,

Created date is the date that the transaction was originally entered.  For recurring transactions, this date may be old.  If you own modifier, the windows can be modified to include these fields. (I've created a modified Transaction Detail Inquiry window for GP 10 to test this.  If you're interested in it....just send me your email).

    Thanks,
    Mike

Right you are Ron.  As Sue stated, 'User who Posted' is available in SmartList.  Not all modules store this data - I was confused :)  Sorry for the erroneous answer Sue.

    Thanks for the clarification!

     Frank,

Your original answer was still correct...you can't see it through Inquiry -> Detail.

     :)
