Form Customization In Ax 2012 R2

Hi,

I am new to Dynamics AX development and using Dynamics Ax 2012 R2.  I am trying to add the new field in the form, for example: Take customer form, think that there is no field called "Age" now I am trying to create the field "Age". Is it possible to write the code without touching the core code in dynamics Ax?

If you can't add your field to an existing field group used in the form, you have to modify the form. Nevertheless your changes will go to another layer than the standard code.

    Hi Sathish,

As specified, let us take the form CustTable which stores the customer master data. You have to follow the following steps:

Step 1: Create a field "Age" in the table 'CustTable'.

Step 2: Right click the form 'CustTable' -> Restore.

Step 3: Drag and drop the field 'Age' from the dataSource 'CustTable' to the design of the form CustTable.

Also, regarding the writing of code, please note that AX is divided into layers i.e. the original code you see in the forms after installing AX is in SYS layer. Therefore, even if you write any code, your code will go into the USR, VAR layer only depending on your license.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Sathish,

You don't need to write code in order to add a field on form. You should first login to the correct layer as mentioned by Martin.

Best approach then will be to add the field in table and then add the new field to  right field group. It will automatically reflect on the form where the field group is referenced on the form design.

    Hope this helps.
