how to change basic uom if the item is having quantity

i have a brand item using wrong basic uom. its already having qunatity allocated on it. i want to write off the qunatity (on hand,in use and allocated) and change uom and i will do new receiving to up quantity. kindly help me to do by step.

    Rafeesh, first the In Use quantity have to be transferred to On Hand. Second thing to do is make a negative inventory adjustment to zero out the on hand quantity, then work with the allocated quantity; find any document causing the allocation and either remove the item from it or void the document. At this point you should be able to change the UOM. The last step is to make a positive adjustment to enter the On Hand quantity and then another quantity type transfer from On Hand to In Use.
