Security rules not working properly

Posted on by 510

Hi guys.

I have one security scenario that the user 'A' is owner of an Organisation and the user 'B' can create opportunities for that Organisation owned by the user 'A'. But the user 'A' can't see the opportunity created by the user 'B'.

Note: The users are in different business units.

I tried to put the Opportunity read privilege as business unit level, but didn't work, the user 'A' still see the opportunity created by the user 'B'. Is that a problem with the relationship between Account and Opportunity?

Regards.

    Hi,

is the team a custom team? if yes , what is the business unit of that team.

is the Organization share to user b?

how doe the business unit structure looks like?

    Confirming the scenario:

User A owns a Organisation record

User B can see this Organisation record

User B create and owns an Opportunity record for the Organisation owned by user A

User A cannot see that opportunity created by the user B

When I set the privilege of 'read opportunity' as Non selected, the user A can't see any opportunity.

But when I set the same privilege as 'User' or 'Business unit' level, the user A is able to see all the opportunities.

    - Yes, the user is inside a team but this team has the same security role that the user have.

    - Both users has the same security role

    - The users are in different business units.

    Hi Henrique

Security in Dynamics CRM is based off the owner of an entity. If you have business unit level for opportunity read privileges that means that users within a business unit can only see opportunities owned by other users in the same business unit.

Since your user B is in another business unit, user A won't see the opportunity regardless of that user being the owner of the account. Dynamics CRM simply checks ownership for each entity separately.

If you want the owner of the account to always be able to see all opportunities from all users you would either need organization level read on opportunities or look into setting up some business logic that always shares the opportunity with the account owner. Another possible scenario is to work with access teams and have each person that works with the same account be part of the access team for each opportunity.

    Hi Palomo,

You want User A not to see Opportunity created by User B.

Check if user A is in any Team, if yes then check the Opportunity previlege in that security role.

If it helps you, Please mark my answer as verified.

    Best Regards,

    Shahbaaz

    Hi,

you mentioned user A cannot see the opportunity created by the user B

but in the end, you stated user A still see the opportunity created by the user B after assign the business unit level.

can you confirm the scenario once again?
