Is Dynamics AX 2012 be installed on Windows Server 2012? Is it supported as yet?

Are they any known issues?

Also, Is there any issues/consideration for installing AX on SQL Server 2012?

Thank you

AX 2012 is not "certified" for Windows Server 2012, which basically means Microsoft will not support it. I'm sure that will come soon. I have personally not tried it, but I have installed AX 2012 on Windows 8 RTM which worked just fine, so I'm sure there is no issue on server 2012. Just remember it's not supported by Microsoft if you run into specific issues. My personal experience with Windows 8 is that you do need to install with CU3 slipstreamed into your AX installer. I've blogged about this here: daxmusings.codecrib.com/.../windows-8-rtm-running-sql2012-and-ax2012.html

For SQL 2012, AX 2012 is definitely certified and supported. My Windows 8 install of AX uses SQL 2012 as well.

I got an error on both the AX 2009 and AX 2012 installer when trying to install on both Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. How did you get around that?

If you follow the explanation on my blog exactly, there are no errors. You're not listing the error you are getting so I can't say whether I encountered it or how I got around it.

    Hello,

Thank you for submitting your inquiry to the Online Technical Community.

Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition or Datacenter Edition will be supported on Dynamics AX 2012R2.  Windows Server is not currently compatible with AX versions older then 2012 R2.

You can download the most current system requirements documentation from the link below.

Can  AX 2012 featurepack be installed on Windows Server 2012? Has anyone tried?

    Hello,

To my knowledge there has not been any change to AX 2012 Feature Pack 1 where it is supported on Server 2012.  The only version that is going to be compatible with WIndows Server 2012 is AX 2012 Release 2.

Please post back if the community can be of further assistance.

    Hello,

According to latest update from Microsoft ( AX2012 System Requirements )  Windows Server 2012 supports AX 2012 R2 , Also regarding Enterprise Portal it supports SharePoint 2010 only which is not supported in Win server 2012 but requires Win2008 or Win2008R2.

On the Enterprise Portal subject, I've heard that there is a hotfix or update about to be released for SharePoint 2013, which would make it compatible with AX 2012 R2. That should solve that issue of running EP on server 2012. I'll see if i can find out what the status is of the fix (it's a sharepoint fix, not AX).
