Open and close daily activity in Dynamics POS 2009

We recently installed Microsoft Dynamics POS 2009 for our retail store and I don't see anywhere in the documentation that gives clear direction for daily activity in regards to open and closing process.  Yes we know how to open and close but it seems everytime we do we get the message open or close function has already been done do you want to overwrite.  What are we doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Hello,

The Open and Closeing is recommended for every batch to help with over/short.  When you want to close out the batch, you should run a Z report, which totals out the batch.

The warning/error you are seeing is just letting you know that this batch has already had this information put in.  I would think that a good way to do this would be to enter your opening amounts when a cashier first starts using the till (for the batch) and then run the closing totals right before running the Z report.

As this is your store's processes it is ultimately your decision on the best way to run the opening totals, closing totals, and Z report.

    Best Regards,

    Shawn with Microsoft Retail Support.
