How can I remove duplicates in Dynamics CRM?

I want a custom filed of Account to be unique. So I need to remove the duplicate record.

Can you tell me easy ways to approach this?

    You have to do manually. Otherwise, you can create a c# console application, search for each distinct emailaddress, then delete the records.

    Hi Aileen,

    This only removes one duplicate record at a time. What if we need to remove all duplicates at once? Is it even possible?

    Custom fileds are not supported with the default functionality. You might want to have a look at www.duplicate-detection.com (Certified Microsoft ISV add-on)

    If you are using onPremise and need complicated filter criteria, what I did last time is I create a SQL Query then I update a flag field isduplicate to 1, then I use Bulk record deletion job in CRM by deleting records with flag isduplicate = 1 or Yes.

    This is unsupported and only works for OnPremise, but this is faster, yet more complicated.

    Hi,

    For the easier way, you can use Duplicate Detection:

    Go to Settings --> Data Management, and find Duplicate Detection Rules, create your detection rules:

    Set the field criteria that you want.

    Save it and publish to activate.

    Then, go to Account view, and run your duplicate detection

    After that, you go to the Duplicate Detection Job (Settings --> Data Management)

    Then see the duplicate detection job, then you will see the potential duplicate record:

    Then, you can delete the Potential duplicate record, you can see the X ribbon.
