Is it possible to update an option set value from an import?

I wanted to confirm if you can update an option set value from an import? I have a client who is claiming on a managed solution, after they did an import with a spreadsheet with wrong values for an option set column, they changed one of the values of the option set to the wrong value (a value that didn't exist in the option set).

I'm under the impression the only way you can change an option set value in a managed solution is through Settings > Customizations > Customize the System as an Administrator.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Angel,

Is the client suggesting that the actual value of the option set within the managed solution was changed? Meaning that now if you go to use that option set on a new record, the option set value is different from before?

No, this is not possible when importing records via an excel file. They must be missing a piece of the puzzle.

Perhaps the meaning is simply that the records now have invalid option set values in the data, which could be possible.  Can you confirm?

    thanks

Hi Robert, thanks for the careful consideration!

We met with the client and actually went through with them the option set values, and they said one of the option set values was incorrect. We suspect though that this is how the system was delivered to them, because as you said it's impossible to update an option set value merely from an Excel import. We believe that the client thinks that because they are confusing how fields that have simple text values can be updated from an Excel import.
