Hello everyone,

I'm trying to provide AX2012 R3 service with .NET Business connector or Web service.

but I wondered What is the difference between .NET Business connector and Web service.

could you tell me where I can get any information about that?

also I wonder whether I can provide service on browser such as Explorer or Chrome.

    Hi

with .Net Business connector, you can access AX data and business logic written in AX (both standard AX classes or customized functions). one more advantage is, You will be validated with AX security structure defined for the user. .Net business connector solutions may not be supported in the upcoming versions of AX, so a generic Web service solution will be better now.

Webservice is one of the best generic solution you can use, It can be used to integrate with any external application independent of platforms. Application Integration Framework in AX works on exchange of xml over various transport media.

You can see one simple example : community.dynamics.com/.../consuming-a-web-service-in-ax-2012-is-easy

.NET Business Connector is basically AX client without GUI, with all its limitations (RPC protocol, must be in the same domain etc.).

Web services are based on WCF (Windows Communication Foundations) and are much more flexible - for example, you can expose them via HTTP.

All features such like security checks are available to web services as well, because requests are still processed by AOS. They just don't support client-bound code, because there is no client anymore.

Not just that Business Connector "may not be supported in the upcoming versions of AX", it's already not supported in the latest version.
