SALES CHECKLINK ERROR: "A record was found in the Sales Transaction Work file; a corresponding record was created in the Posting Definitions Master file"

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi everyone,

Weekly, I do check links on GP 10 for Sales, Purchasing and Financial modules. I got an error after doing the sales check link, below is the error message I got:

Sales Transaction Work Error:

"A record was found in the Sales Transaction Work file; a corresponding record was created in the Posting Definitions Master file"

Any idea what does it means?

Thanks,

Rotchine

    Hi Rotchine,

It is likely that an interruption happened in the system which caused the transaction to hang in the SOP10100 table.  The transaction has no Batch ID (BACHNUMB) hence the reason Check Links created one for it.

I recommend pulling up the transaction via the Sales Transaction Entry window and verify if it is a legit transaction or not - delete/post as needed.  You may want to assign it to a new Batch ID if possible.

A record was found in the open sales order table (SOP10100) with a batch ID that did not exist in the Posting Definitions Master table (SY00500). Check links is just doing its job. In light of the other issues you have experienced I would suggest you run check links on all of your modules plus evaluate your current environment. Version of OS, version of SQL and version of GP. You may be having database corruption issues. In SQL you might want to run a few DBCC commands to check the health of your GP databases.
