Two Opportunity components in Account context menu

Posted on by 45

In an account context menu, against a given record, I can see two "Opportunities" buttons, each giving a different result when clicked. Our business model is always one opportunity for one account (won), there cannot be more than one opportunity per account. Yet, of these two buttons, one returns a blank response (related opportunity) and another returns the correct opportunity associated. Any thoughts why and how I can converge these ?

Rationale : In one of my views for Accounts, I intend to bring out the Lead Source for the opportunity that won this Account, but I guess this looks at the context menu where there is a blank linked record. My options in adding column in View also has only one "Opportunity (Account)" to choose a field from; there is no second Opportunity option. Can anyone throw some light please ? Thanks.

PIcs for reference:

Pic 1 you can see there are two "Opportunity" buttons in context menu against a given record.

Pic 2: You can see in the account record, there IS an associated Opportunity and shows the Lead Source (Org), and yet, in Pic 3, you see the view is not showing any data against Lead Source (Org).

When I look at the form setup on how the correct info is being received in account record, I see a second Opportunity reference called "Opportunity(Account Shortlisted)"; but in View, I see only "Opportunity(Account)" as the only option to add fields from. Strange. Any thoughts anyone?

    Hey Prashant,

Thank you so much - your response has the mystery cleared. So effectively, in CRM the field mapping works only BEFORE the downstream record is created, not otherwise.

I visited your blog to learn the Microsoft flow usage, and created one to solve this requirement / problem. Way to go !

    Regards,

    Hi Sudhir

You can use Originating Lead’s lead source on your account view. But that will only show data if your account was created after lead qualification and not if you have manually created the account.

Folks still struggling with this seemingly small task. Double checked relationships and mappings.

    Any thoughts ?

    Hey Rocker,

Brilliant, solved one part of my problem on the blank search for opportunity showing up.

Any thoughts on the second part of my query ? How to get the right lookup in the View for reflecting the Opportunity record ? Much appreciate. Thanks.

    GoTo--> Settings-->Customizations-->Customize the system-->Open opportunity entity--> Expand N:1 relationship.

You have one custom N:1 relation ship that's why you are getting this button.

Open N:1 relationship and in lookup section, Rename it from account to something else.

In Navigation Pane, Select "Do not display" in Display option .

    Save it and publish.
