Error with Enabling server based Sharepoint integration

(3) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 13
Hi,
I am encountering an issue while trying to enable Server-Based integration. During the process, I receive an error message stating "Absolute URLs detected". However, all my sharepoint locations are configured using relative URLs as per the guidelines, still I am encountering this issue. I have checked the dataverse if there are any sharepoint locations with absolute URLs but I couldn't find anything.
Could anyone please provide guidance in this issue to resolve it? I have added the snapshots for your reference.

    Hi,
This issue usually arises when there are hidden or legacy SharePoint document locations still stored with absolute URLs, even if newly configured ones use relative URLs.
    Here’s what you can try:
    1. Check Document Locations via Advanced Find
In Dynamics 365, open Advanced Find → look for the "Document Locations" entity. Filter records where:
      • Relative URL starts with http or contains full site addresses.
      • You may also want to check the Default Site and any Site Collection URLs.
    2. Make Sure All URLs Are Relative
Ensure that the Default Site and all configured site collection/document location URLs are using relative paths, not absolute URLs.
      Example: /sites/documentsite (correct)
Example: https://company.sharepoint.com/sites/documentsite (causes the wizard to fail)
    3. Use Tools If Needed
If you're dealing with many records, community tools like XrmToolBox or Power Automate can help identify and clean them up in bulk.
    4. Try Re-enabling Integration
Once cleaned, retry enabling the server-based integration. It should proceed without error.
As a side note, if managing SharePoint document access or permissions gets cumbersome over time, consider using tools like SharePoint Security Sync by Inogic. It helps to adhere to document-level permissions and sync of Dynamics 365 exactly to SharePoint seamlessly, reducing reliance on manual document location configurations.

    Hope this resolves the issue.

    Thanks,
    Sam
