Working documents within cases

Hi,

Is there a way to insert/attach a working template or document within a case and have it editable without having to download? The aim is to have a working document attached to a case that multiple people can open, make changes, close and anyone who views the case will be able to do the same. We don't want to have to download a document, amend, then re upload.

There is no such oob functionality but you can develop it.

We have scenarios where the case would need to start with one team and be reassigned to be completed by a different team and tasks are not appropriate to use in this instance.

Well, one possible solution that occurs to me would be to create a workflow to reassign the case (I assume you've already done that part) and to have the document in a SharePoint library with a iFrame added to the forms in the Case entities with the library settings set to force the document to open in the online Office App(s) (Word, Excel, etc.). Create the files for that SPO doclib as templates for that doclib. You may have to also use a PA Flow to change permissions for the documents when you move the Case from one team to another.
