Management Reporter "Problem in the Data Provider Framework"

Posted on by 4,757

Hi all,

I can usually beat MR into submission, but I have a new implementation that I can't get off the ground.

After the DDM integration completes, I cannot open a row set. It returns the old "the operation could not be completed due to a problem in the data provider framework" error. I have scoured the data and corrected some things, but it is clean now and still returning the error.

In the Data Mart Integration log, I also get an error on a Maintenance Task:

":System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Timeout expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): The wait operation timed out

These are my only indicators that anything is wrong. It happens on the 2011 RTM version of the SL data and the 2015CU1 version of the data. It happens on a fresh server and an upgraded server.

Anyone have some ideas? At this point I'll take wild guesses and obscure mystical chants if you have one.

:)

Thanks!

That sounds similar to our problem client setup. We did address some smaller data issues, but the engineer working with us advised adding more server resources even though the dedicated server exceeded the recommended resources by a fair margin. The best performing setups I have seen pooled MR memory requirements with those of SQL on the same server. We've had a couple of installations that allocated 60 GB of RAM on a VM to the server running SQL & MR for a "small" MR database model, and they perform well.

It doesn't appear that the financial reporting team is trying to optimize their application to run with a smaller footprint and spend time tuning it for better performance.

Not yet I haven't. I have a ticket open and working through it with MS. The engineer is treating it like an issue with an under-powered server and we have added memory and extended a list of timeouts in the CONFIG files.

Butch - did you come to a resolution on this issue? We had a client with similar timeout issues using the latest MR version that was available about a year ago. Suggestions from MR support didn't resolve their MR issues, and they ended up remaining on FRx.

Hi, The dedicated user didn't help either.

    Hi Lisa,

    Thanks for your comments.

I have the clean up scripts and it runs fine as well as the Console integrity check.

The Integration runs just fine - the only error being that maintenance task timing out.

I have not tried a dedicated MR user. I am having IT create one for me and I'm going to try it.

    Butch

I had a similar issue and doing some research there were some SQL scripts that need to be executed to "clean" the data so as to prevent data integration issues.    Were you able to execute those scripts already?

In addition, were you able to enable and run integration in the configuration without an issue?

I also had to make sure that I had a dedicated user for MR.

After verifying the above MR was up and running.  Hope the suggestions above will help to point you in a right direction.

    Regards
