VAT number incorrect (MOD 97), but number is correct according calculation

Dear all,

We experience a problem with inserting an GB VAT number in AX 2012R2. We have inserted several (GB) VAT numbers without having issues.

According http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/ the number is correct, but AX give the message: VAT number incorrect (MOD 97).

Also when I calculate the number by my self, it's correct.

How can I solve this issue?

Thanks in advance

    Hello Theo Janssen,

Do you have the 'check tax exempt number button' activated in GL (Setup/salestax/external/countryregionparameters)? If so, what happens if you deactivate this check?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Theo,

I have heard of a similar issue with a Dutch VAT number in AX2012R2. I don't know the details if this was solved or not. Possibly you can check LCS issue search for known issues.

    Hi Ludwig,

I have the same problem as Theo and I tried to deactivate this check and that went fine. My question is if this can create problems further in the process? And also what the reason for the error is?

    Kind regards

    Marit

    Hi Marit,

I can speak only for my home country (Germany) where the deactivation of this parameter is in general not an issue because the check only validates that a number fits the expected format. It does, however, not guarantee that the number is actually used by a specific company. Therefore, we regularly have to double check those numbers on a government website anyway and do not really need the check.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hi Ludwig, to uncheck the 'check tax exempt number button' did the trick. Thanks for your help.
