How to enable "Simple" type column to edit

I have a forecast grid that includes a column named "Unallocated", which is configured as a "Simple" type column in the Forecast Configuration. By default, this column is not editable like other columns.

I would like to make this column editable for users, but I'm not sure how to achieve that. I haven’t found a way to embed JavaScript to enable editing for this field.

I know that Microsoft provides an API that allows updating "Simple" type columns, but my goal is to make the column editable directly in the grid, just like other editable columns.

Has anyone worked with this before or found a solution?

How to enable "Simple" type column to edit
    Hi,
In Dynamics 365 Sales Forecasts, columns of type **"Simple"** in the forecast grid are typically **read-only by design**. Microsoft restricts direct editing of these columns in the grid to ensure data integrity, as "Simple" columns are often calculated or aggregated values.
Currently, there is **no supported configuration or setting** that allows you to make a "Simple" type column editable directly in the forecast grid. JavaScript customizations are also not supported in this context, and the API is intended for programmatic updates rather than enabling in-grid editing.
If editable columns are required, consider the following alternatives:
    - Use a **"Rollup" or "Custom" column type** for fields that need to be editable, as these types support user input in the grid.
    - If business requirements demand editing "Unallocated" values, redesign the forecast configuration to use a custom column that can be updated by users and then referenced in calculations.
You can find more details in the official documentation on forecast configuration and editable columns.

Please verify if this explanation helps clarify the limitation and possible approaches.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Daniele

You cannot make a “Simple” forecast column editable directly in the forecast grid. Only Custom (Editable) columns support inline editing. To achieve what you want, you’ll either need to reconfigure the column as Editable (and sync it back), or go down the custom PCF/JavaScript + Forecast API route
