How to stop the Data Export Service

Hi,

I have the Data Export Service running and trickling data to my Sql Server Database.  I have studied the installation ntoes and found them quite helpful, but can't see where it states what to do if you want to actually stop the Service for a period of time.  And if I do stop it what are the implications eg when i start it back up again will any changed data flow through or do I have to do a delete of all the tables in SQL Server then re-install from the start.

There is no hold option, stop/restart choice yet.

You have to delete the DES profile, or remove the entity from profile to stop syncing.

Then the table definition & table has to be deleted before restarting the full sync.

    Thanks for that Arun.

I investigated the documentation a bit further and found there were some API commands that might do the job.

profiles/{id}/activatedata  POST  Activate profile for data replication only

    profiles/{id}/deactivate   POST   Deactivate a profile

Have some code to log me in using OAUTH2 just have to get past the multifactor authentication and then test the resutls on the Dev environement.

I'll update this thread with outcomes - hopefully positive:)

I have tested the API code using OAUTH2 authentication where the url becomes [Organization-URI]/crm/exporter/profiles/{id}/activate or deactivate

To retrieve the profile id needs some extra code but this certainly stops the data export service once you have it working.

Once you run your script you can veryify the activate/deactivate by logging into the CRM opening th profile and viewing the status which will change from Active to Inactive.

    Hope this help.

Hopefully you can answer this after more than a year. What happened after you stopped it and then activated it?

Did old posts automatically synch to the database?
