Route Operation Primary/Secondary [Human/Machine Requirements]

Hi,

Following this post, specifically #3 on Secondary Operations

https://community.dynamics.com/ax/b/msdynaxlessonslearned/archive/2014/04/29/dynamics-ax-2012-production-control-tips-and-tricks-ii

Could anyone confirm if Route Operations Primary/Secondary with same Oper.No. & Operation is possible, e.g.

Oper.No. - Priority - Operation

10 - Primary - MyOp

20 - Secondary1 - MyOp

Our use case is an Operation that has Human Resource and Machine Resource Requirements. It would be nice to not have to create additional Operation codes for every Operation that requires both types of resources..

We are using AX2012 kernal 6.3.1000.309 and the above blog post indicates that we should be able to do this.

Thanks..

Evert is a good guy, I see you asked on his thread, he'll likely reply.

We have a client with this requirement now, at CU10 Kernel 6.3.3000.111 vs. your CU8, and it is the same as you have found, you must have distinct Operations for anything in the same Oper.No.  regardless of the priority selected.

That is not how you use Secondary operations. Secondary operations are ment as secondary resource requirements on the same operation number.

    IE:

    10 - Primary - Welder
    10 - Secondary - WeldingEquipment
    10 - Secondary2 - WeldingLocation

You CAN have the same operation twice in the same route, but the the times (setup, process...) for each of these operations will have to be the same!

Only way to solve this issue is to create duplicate operations: MyOp, MyOp2, MyOp3... Resulting in:

    10 - Primary - MyOp
    20 - Primary - MyOp2

    Fredrik,

Maybe a fuller example would help you help me in my understanding.

This is what I would expect to be able to do..

    Oper.No. - Priority - Operation - ResourceRequirement

    10 - Primary - Welding - Welder

    10 - Secondary1 - Welding - WeldingEquipment [Times fixed to Primary]

    10 - Secondary2 - Welding - WeldingLocation [Times fixed to Primary]

    This is what AX allows

    Oper.No. - Priority - Operation - ResourceRequirement

    10 - Primary - Welding - Welder

    10 - Secondary1 - Welding1 - WeldingEquipment [Times fixed to Primary]

    10 - Secondary2 - Welding2 - WeldingLocation [Times fixed to Primary]

Having to add Welding1 & Welding2 operations is the none intuitive part (at least for myself).

The blog post led me to think that this had been 'corrected', but maybe not.

    Thanks

But you never got a solution to the expected way of doing the route?
