Automatic return to user in rejected workflow

When the manager rejects the workflow,

then instead of the the last step being rejected in workflowtrackingstatus table,

It gets returns back to the user and the status becomes pending .

How do i stop the return?

The table in which the item is getting rejected is custom .

Hi Prachi,

When rejecting the workflow, the usual behavior is that the workflow process ends. The submitting user can then make the changes as needed and can re-submit the workflow. Please check here for details of the workflow approval process.

Since the table you are dealing with is custom, you mist have created a custom workflow process as well. You should try debugging the event handler on rejection to check why the status is being set as pending.

Hi Prachi,

Rejection results in ending the workflow. You might implement a review task within the workflow, but this would be then a standard part of your workflow configuration. As procedure, you can send an alert to the user who initiated the workflow to look at the comments and correct the data. Usually during the approval, there is no option to modify the record anyway. So rejection and re-submission is the recommended approach.

Hi Prachi,

Have you checked the class which is the event handler for the workflow approval? For an example, class PurchReqApprovalEventHandler. Method "returned" in this class sets the purchase requisition status to "Rejected".

Hi sir,

Yes , I found the class. It is a custom class since the form and table and workflow are all custom.

It has a method return and also a method rejected.

There the status is changed to rejected only there is nothing about resubmit.

How do I debug this class ? I can insert a breakpoint on this method but do I need to create a record ans submit for workflow while connected to iisexpress?
