Hello,
We are a retail e-commerce company that receives completed sales orders that we import into GP. I need to post the sales tax amount to the proper tax jurisdiction. I was thinking of grouping the zip codes by tax jurisdiction but I do not know if this could be done in GP. OR is there another way of completing this task. I am no getting the sales tax breakdown from where I am receiving the data.

The zip code is not a good determinate of tax jurisdiction. My zip code falls three different jurisdictions, three different cities.
The best way to determine taxing jurisdiction is to geocode the physical address. The third party software Avatax uses this method. Their tax calculations are the most accurate I have found.
The problem with relying on the Customer/Ship method tax calculations is that it will recalculate the tax. You need to be sure the calculations match, or you will be making small adjustments all of the time.
How extensive is your sales tax coverage. Meaning how many states/jurisdictions do you report in?

Richard, are you using out of the box GP Sales Tax schedules or perhaps a 3rd party Sales Tax product? The Tax Schedule associated with the Customer/Ship Method should drive your sales tax calculations.
