Raw Material Picking Work for All Qty + Restrict RAF if Raw Material Picking Work is Open

Hi,

I am using Raw material picking WMS menu item for production order to pick the inventory from storage location and to put in input location of the resource assigned to the route operation. Production parameter is set to reserve the quantity on "Release". I have 2 following questions on this:

1: When I click release on production order, system is looking at resource input location to reserve the quantity. If quantity is not available on input location then system is generating Raw Material Picking work to pick the quantity from storage location. If the production order is for 10 qty then system should also generate Raw material picking work for 10 quantity however system is only generating work for quantity available in storage location. E.g. Production order is for 10 qty and no quantity is available on input location and only 6 quantity is available on storage location then system is generating raw material picking work for 6 qty. I want system to generate raw material picking work for full qty of 10.

2: Currently, system allow to start the production order and I can also complete RAF process using mobile application despite the fact that raw material picking work is still open. System should restrict to start production order if Raw Material Picking work is open.

I have the same question (0)

Hi Zeehan, Warehouse work can only be created for what can be physical reserved. If there is on 6 pieces in inventory, then work can only be created for that quantity even though the requested quantity is 10. With regards to your suggestion of restricting production start to when all work is closed, this is not in the plans as some customers are releasing work continuously after the production or batch order is started.

    Hi,

    1. What do you mean by generating work for 10 if only 6 is available? Wheres the other 4 you expect a work from if it's not in stock? You can set the parameter requirement for material reservation to "require full reservation" on either the bom line or production control parameters. If you do this, D365 expect the full quantity to be reserved otherwise no work is generated at all.

    2. How are you consuming your bom lines? If you for example configure the system to backflush when reporting as finish this will make a check that all the materials are available at the input location of the operations resource during report as finish.
Otherwise you can prevent the order from getting released if you use "require full reservation" and also using the feature "Prevent production orders to be released when full material is not available".

    Best regards, Elias
