Maintaining Integrity - Multiple Companies

I just wanted to get some insight from other Business Central users on dealing with cumbersome tasks/admin in multiple company environments.

I have worked as a Finance Systems Manager (BC) for 12+ years, several companies ranging from 10 companies to near 50.

Aside from adding Master Data Management and the Power BI connector - I was wondering if anyone has any insight on managing cumbersome processes across the companies.

I have built tonnes of BI reports to pull master/transactional data as well as set up information in order  to maintain system integrity.

I find any process of checking at an environment level very manual or cumbersome:

1. Opening and closing periods
2. Any reporting
3. Maintaining setups and ensuring all in sync

I could add many things - but generally - I spend a wealth of time just switching companies to make the same changes etc.

Anyone any stories/thoughts on how to improve this?

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

Thought you mentioned aside from adding Master Data Management but it is the best approach to maintain same data changes across companies of the same environment.
However, it is a one-way synchronization and it will be best to choose a master company for the rest of the companies to follow.

Maybe you can share your concern on using Master Data Management?

Unfortunately, this is one of the drawbacks of having multiple companies. However, in addition to master data management, you can explore using Power Automate or customizing the system to automate some of these tasks. You could also consider creating a simple report with third-party tools like Jet Reports or Power BI to show the setup across all companies, allowing you to quickly verify if any company is out of sync.
