Dimension not appearing after running Calculate Depreciation for FA

Hi Friends,

[Version NAV 2018].

After running Calculate Depreciation for Fixed Assets, in FA G/L Journal in the Dimensions Code column the value is not picking up from Fixed Asset's dimension and it is blank for all Fixed Assets.

I might be missing something somewhere. Can anyone let me know what am I supposed to do?

I have the same question (0)

    Hello arviax,

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Forum.

I just ran a test in NAV 2018 (North America Version) and the Depreciation lines created in the FA G/L Journal show the Dimensions from the Default Dimension defined on the Fixed Asset Record. I made sure to have different Dimension on each Fixed Asset and ran the Calculate Depreciation batch process. As shown, the default FA G/L Journal Lines show the correct Dimensions.

Are you stating that you have defined Default Dimensions on the Fixed Asset Card for each Fixed Asset but the Dimensions are not being populated on the FA G/L Jounral?

Please confirm the Application Build No. from Codeunit 1 - Design.  Also, can you confirm the Localized/Specific Country Version of the Database?  I am not aware of any issues, although there were a few Fixed Asset related issue corrected since the original NAV 2018 release. You can see the Hotfix Page at the following link:

    https://mbs.microsoft.com/partnersource/global/deployment/downloads/hot-fixes/NAV2018AppHotfixOverview

The only thing to confirm is that there are no filters set on the Calculate Depreciation batch process that could be preventing certain Fixed Assets from being calculated.

    Thank you.

    Best Regards

    Tom

    Hi Thomas,

Thank you very much for your very much detailed reply.

Yes, I have defined Default Dimensions on the Fixed Asset Card for each Fixed Asset but the Dimensions (Global Dimension 2 Code) is not being populated on the FA G/L Jounral.

But it is working fine in another company in same database.

    Thanks, Arviax

Click Fixed Asset, then Click Dimensions-Dimensions-Single, check if have value

When import Fixed Assert by rapid start, if we don't check validate to generate Dimensions in default Dimensions

    Hi Arviax,

It is an interesting situation because it only affects the one company.  The primary configuration that may have impact is Allocations.  If some pre-defined Allocations have been established for Dimension breakout, these would override the Default Dimensions on the Fixed Asset Card.  From the FA Posting Groups, you would click on NAVIGATE - Allocations. In this area of setup, predefined Allocations of the various  FA Posting Types, which includes Depreciation, can be setup to allocate a Fixed Asset Posting to various Dimension combinations as a predefined percentage. This works well if, for example, a company automobile is used 50% by the SALES Departement and 50% by the ADMIN department.  The key is that Allocations setup for Depreciation among a combination of different Dimensions would override the default Dimensions defined on the Fixed Asset Card.

I hope this helps point you in the correct direction. It is the one setup area that would generate a different Dimension Set than predefined on the Fixed Asset Card.

    Best Regards,

    Tom

    Hi Thomas,

Thanks a lot for your solution.

Yes, you are correct. It seems the dimensions were not defined in FA Posting Group allocation in one company and defined in another company. I tried checking in testing environment and I could able to get the Dimension Code in FA G/L Journal. Still waiting for the comments from Finance department as they are busy in month-end close.

    Thank you once again.

    Regards, Arviax.

    Hi Tom,

    Sorry for very delayed response.

Dimension (Department Code) against Fixed Asset is blank and against G/L Account gets value as you mentioned in your previous reply.
