Hi Dynamics 365 lovers,
We have eagerly started two Dynamics 365 for Marketing projects now.
I am encountering one question when working with segments.
Is it possible to export the members of a segment?
Best regards,
Marijn
I have also had this request in a previous project. I think that customer might have added it as a product feature idea.
But currently I don't think you can automatically (easily) export the members of a segment directly to Excel.
In my previous project the requirement was actually to find all members from the customer journey. (Which was effectively the same thing!) We created an activity in the customer journey. And then an advanced find could be done to find those contacts and export them. But this approach is just a workaround rather than an ideal fix.
Hello,
currently Dynamics 365 for Marketing does not have the Export To Excel functionality for segment members. We do have this feature as on the plan for a future release - post the Spring 2019 release though. But it is an important feature that we plan to deliver.
Until then you have the option that Neil is proposing - running a Customer Journey on the segment with an Action that modifies a certain fields - which does nothing else than transition the fact that a contact is in a Segment into a flag that can be selected in different means. You could then use Power BI or Excel directly against the CDS endpoint of CRM to load contacts with this tagging.
The CDS data model features a field (msdyncrm_segmentmemberids) which is maintained for static segments (not synamic) and which contains all Segment members as a JSON representing a list of Contact IDs. The operation to access this lists in Power BI / Excel is very easy to use.
I agree. This is the work around I was thinking about as well.

Hi, is there any update on this? I would like to be able to export dynamic segment members.
What I dont understand is when you select "Contacts" from the Related menu, you get the list of contacts (same as the segment members) but the excel export generates an empty Excel file...
Any Updates on this?
You can find 'Export members' button in ribbon menu of Segment.
If you can't see the button, please check whether you have privilege to export excel.

Clofly
My problem is now, that i want to change that excel-template. How can i do that?
There is no option which template to choose as known from marketinglist.
Try to customize the Segment Members View of Contact entity.
If it doesn’t work, I will reply to you tomorrow.
