creating a production company without much information?

Hi:

We don't have much information, yet, on the new company to be setup.

Is it best to (a) create a Sandbox environment, (b) use the wizard there to create the new company with setup data, and (c) have the end users login to it before we do anything at in production?

If there are enough environments, there is nothing wrong with your three options.

But, there are a few prerequisites.
1. The environment can be copied, such as Sandbox->Production
2. The company can also be copied, such as Company A -> Company B
However, it is not possible to copy only one company to another environment.

Another question is whether you need to develop in this environment with data? Only use Sandbox if necessary. Or you need to copy from Production environment to Sandbox every time.

And, Sandboxes run in a different performance tier on Azure than production environments, if you also want to do performance testing, you can only use Production
