Setting up Dynamics to connect to Availability Group or SQL Listener

Hi All

Does anyone know if you can setup Dynamics on HA via SQL 2016 and above

is it a case of adding in the listener for the connection config or do i need to point it directly to a server?

    Is your IP dynamic?   If you are clustering, yes you would want to point to the SQL listener

    With regards to the IP, it wouldn't be dynamic

    Is it possible to amend the setup of a current dynamics config to point to a SQL listener instead of a server?

    You would use a server name and DNS..

    Install 2016 as you would normally, get it running and updating against a single node in the cluster (e.g. SQL01 and SQL02 are setup to be HA - Do the CRM install against SQL01 when installing). When everything is running change the DB to the cluster address (e.g. SQL-LISTENER-01), registry/DB config settings

    Now I've not done an on-prem install in a while, so if you can directly point the installation at a cluster do it that way. Above works and is what we did when we migrated to a SQL cluster.

    Standard things apply, changing config/registry settings are at your own risk. etc.
